Work and text by Adriana Radulescu (Romania/USA).
I like working with found objects; they are the serendipitous gifts of nature, the memory of time or space, and to me, beautiful. Sometimes I make objects that look as they have been found. I want my work to convey that beauty and value are measures of emotion rather than conventionally established concepts.
I am an architect by vocation and an accidental jeweler. During a very stressful building project I decided to take a jewelry class at the Corcoran College of Art + Design in Washington DC to challenge myself and get on working with my hands in a different way; I ended up studying for 5 years there until the jewelry department was closed. Now I have my jewelry studio and architectural practice in Washington DC and each stimulates the other.
